Built-In Durability and Weather Engineering

Every 4m x 3m pergola uses high-performance, rust-proof aluminium, finished with TIGER Drylac powder coating which offers improved protection over standard powder coating and is more durable. These structures won’t warp, crack or rot like timber.

When closed, the structures are 100% waterproof as rainwater is automatically intercepted and directed down through an integrated hidden drainage system inside the hollow legs. Every model includes heavy-duty anchor bolts for solid foundations. 

4m x 3m Pergola FAQs

Is a 4m x 3m pergola sturdy enough to withstand high winds? 

Yes, a 4m x 3m pergola is generally sturdy enough to withstand typical UK wind conditions, provided it is installed correctly on a suitable, level surface and securely fixed in place. For best performance, the pergola should be anchored properly and the louvred roof should be opened during very high winds to reduce wind resistance. In extreme weather conditions, it is always best to follow the manufacturer’s guidance.

How much clearance do I need to leave for Bifold or French doors?

Our 4m x 3m models stand at an average height of 2.5 metres. If you are opting for a wall-mounted model above outward-opening bifold or French doors, ensure you have at least 15 to 30mm (1 to 2 inches) between the top of the door frame and the pergola to allow for full operation of the doors. 

Does the integrated drainage system cope with heavy UK downpours?

Absolutely. The built-in drainage system which prevents you from having to open the louvred roof to let water drain. Any rainwater that lands on the louvres flows into U-shaped channels and then into channels in the pergola frame. The rainwater will then flow into the inside of the hollow pergola legs and vertically down to the ground. This system means that you'll never see the water draining off of the pergola and it can certainly handle heavy UK downpours of rain. However just as you would with your house, we ask you to check the pergola gutters are free of debris to keep the pergola in good condition.

What size garden is most suitable for a 4m x 3m pergola?

We recommend our 4m x 3m pergolas for customers with gardens that measure approximately 50 to 100+ square metres. This ensures the pergola doesn’t overpower the rest of your outdoor space. Are you working with a tighter footprint? Our 3m x 3m Pergolas offer the exact same premium engineering and weather-resistant models as our 4m x 3m range, beautifully optimised for smaller gardens.
