Pergolas are an excellent way to make better use of your garden. They can provide you with a dedicated outdoor space for relaxing, dining, entertaining guests, or enjoying the warmer summer (and even winter) months with your family.

If you are looking for a high-quality outdoor pergola for your garden, you’ve come to the right place. At Chimes Home and Garden, we have many different quality pergolas for sale that can suit different garden spaces, aesthetic preferences, and budgets.

So, browse through our catalogue of pergolas, choose the one that best suits your outdoor space, budget, and specific requirements, and we’ll deliver it right to your doorstep.

Find Your Ideal Pergola

At Chimes Home and Garden, we carry 3 main ranges of pergolas. They include Rivaro, Rivaro Deluxe, and Torino, each designed to offer something a little different in terms of style, size, materials, and features.

Some of our pergolas are also customisable. If we take our best-selling pergola, Rivaro, as an example, some of the optional extras you can add to it include an electric patio heater, an aluminium side wall, and a privacy screen, to name a few.

With that said, whether you’re looking for a compact pergola for a smaller garden where you can relax in the summer or a larger structure that’s designed to create a dedicated outdoor entertainment area for your friends and family, there’s a good chance we have exactly what you’re looking for.

Designed Around How You Want to Use Your Garden

Pergolas are one of the most flexible additions you can make to your garden. They give you a defined outdoor space that can be used in a variety of ways, including:

Create an Outdoor Dining Area

You can use a pergola to create a dedicated space for outdoor dining without needing to build a separate extension. Once the pergola is set up, you can put a table and a couple of chairs underneath, and you’ll have somewhere to eat with your friends and family outside during the warm summer months.

Extend Your Outdoor Seating Space

The right size pergola can also give you somewhere to put sofas, chairs, a coffee table, and other essential garden furniture. It can make your garden space feel more organised and put together by clearly defining where your seating area begins and ends.

Create a More Private Garden Retreat

If you’d like to have an area in your garden that is a little more secluded, a pergola can help you achieve that. Once your pergola is installed, you can add screens, curtains, and climbing plants to it, all of which can be used to make the space feel more private. Add some comfortable seating, and you have a simple place to sit, read, have a coffee, or just spend some quality time outdoors.

Made Using Quality, Long-Lasting Materials

At Chimes Home and Garden, all our pergolas are made using high-quality aluminium. We have chosen this material because it is naturally resistant to rust and corrosion, which is important considering your pergola will be exposed to the UK’s unpredictable weather throughout the year.

Every aluminium pergola also features a powder-coated finish. This gives your aluminium pergola an additional layer of protection against UV rays, rain, and temperature fluctuations, which are known to cause wear and deterioration over time.

In other words, when you choose a pergola from us, you are choosing a quality product that will last and preserve its shine for many years to come with little to no maintenance.

Make Your Pergola Part of a Complete Outdoor Space

Your pergola doesn’t have to be a standalone feature in your garden. With the right furniture and accessories, you can turn the space underneath into a comfortable area that works for everyday use and entertaining.

Coordinate Your Pergola With Outdoor Furniture

Choose outdoor furniture that fits comfortably within your pergola and complements its style. Sofas, dining sets, chairs, and tables can all help make the space feel more complete while giving you somewhere practical to sit and spend time outdoors.

Create a Comfortable Space for Dining, Relaxing and Entertaining

A well-planned pergola can be used for all sorts of occasions. You can set up a dining table for meals outside, add comfortable seating for relaxing, or arrange the space so there’s plenty of room when friends and family come over.

Choose a Style That Complements Your Home and Garden

Think about how your pergola will look alongside the rest of your property and outdoor space. You should carefully think about the pergola’s colour, design, and finish to ensure it works with your home’s exterior and existing garden. That way, it will feel like a natural part of the space.

Pergola FAQs

What is the best material for a garden pergola?

The best material for a garden pergola is aluminium, and there are a couple of reasons why that is. Firstly, aluminium is naturally resistant to rust and corrosion, which makes it a good choice for the UK’s often wet and unpredictable weather. Unlike timber, it won’t rot, warp, or need regular staining and treatment to keep it in good condition.

Aluminium is also lightweight but strong, so it can be used to create sturdy pergolas without making them heavy and difficult to install. It’s a fantastic material if you’re looking for a pergola that can stay in your garden all year round with relatively little maintenance.

Are aluminium pergolas suitable for British weather?

Yes, aluminium pergolas are suitable for British weather and can be left outside throughout the year. They are resistant to rain and moisture and won’t rot like untreated timber. Many modern aluminium pergolas, including the models you’ll come across on this page, feature powder-coated finishes, which provide additional protection from the elements.

What is the difference between an aluminium pergola and a metal pergola?

Aluminium is a type of metal, so an aluminium pergola is technically a metal pergola. However, the term “metal pergola” can also refer to structures made from steel or other metals. Aluminium pergolas are particularly popular because they are lightweight, resistant to rust, and require relatively little maintenance compared to pergolas made from some other types of metal.

Are pergolas with roofs waterproof?

This will depend on the pergola itself and the type of roof it has. Some pergolas are waterproof, while others are designed primarily to provide shade. If protection from rain is important to you, then you’ll be glad to hear that all our aluminium pergolas are waterproof. Each of our pergolas features U-shaped channels, which help stop water from dripping into the sheltered space, keeping you and your furniture dry.

Can a pergola be left outside all year?

It depends on the materials the pergola is made of. Aluminium pergolas can be left outside throughout the year. Since they are resistant to rain and moisture, how you leave them in September will be exactly how you find them in April or May.

If you plan on buying a pergola that can stay outside throughout the year, then we’d also recommend you opt for rattan garden furniture, which can also be left outdoors throughout the winter.

How do I choose the right size pergola for my garden?

We recommend you start by measuring the area where you want to install the pergola. Make sure there is enough room for your furniture while still leaving space to move around comfortably. You should also take into consideration the overall proportions of your garden so the pergola doesn’t overwhelm the space.

Once you have a rough idea of what size pergola you’re looking for, you can use the filters on this page to narrow down your options and only see pergolas in the sizes that are relevant for you.

Do I need planning permission for a free-standing pergola?

Planning permission is not normally required for a typical domestic pergola. Whether planning permission will be required depends on factors such as the pergola’s size, height, location, and proximity to boundaries. Additional restrictions may also apply to listed properties or homes in conservation areas. If you have any doubts, please contact your local council.

Are pergolas with sides worth considering?

If making the area underneath the pergola more secluded is important to you, then yes, a pergola with sides is definitely worth considering. In addition to better privacy, buying a pergola with sides will also provide some wind protection. This is pretty important, especially if you plan to use the space during the colder winter months.

How much does a quality pergola cost?

The cost of quality pergolas can vary quite significantly depending on a few different factors, including size, materials, design, and features. At Chimes Home and Garden, our collection of pergolas features models that cost anywhere from just over a thousand pounds all the way up to six thousand pounds or more, so we have plenty of options for every budget.

What are the delivery options for pergolas?

We offer a number of delivery options that you can choose from. The options available to you will vary depending on your delivery address and the pergola you buy. For more information, please visit our delivery information page or get in touch with us by calling 01268 219969.
